As Promised...

Here we go, 'my' 'new' bike! (' My' = not so much as it is on long term loan. 'New' = haven't had a bike since I was about 11!)

I had a little companion this morning when I visited The Roper house.

Necessary?!

Film Reviews

So I spent a well needed day off in the cinema yesterday with a friend making the most of our unlimited cards.

Firstly I could find NO sole image for this film! I had to take the small thumbnail from the Cineworld page! This film was ok. We missed the beginning, but it was very easy to work out the plotline. Take 'Save The Last Dance', mix it with 'Coyote Ugly' and you have this synopsis. Its a predictable, life is not like that really kind of film!

It took a while for this film to get interesting. The friend I was with whispered that she was bored a lot, although at the end was glad she saw it, so it cannot have been that bad! Heath Ledgers performance was totally deserving of the praise it has been given. His performance as the joker was very un-nerving. I must admit I have not seen the last batman film, so I did go into this one slightly blind of what had happened before. It was all very clever in its plotline & twists and the effects were good. I liked the summary at the end when discussing how the Joker had brought out the bad side of Dent. The obvious use of his two faces was good. I would say to go and see this film as it is a must!

This was the sing along version!! Same as before but with the words on screen! Much fun to round off our day!

0808 Festival Fun

Its all over...well the festival part anyway. The weekend went really well and I think everyone involved would agree. We were blessed with good weather. My flickr album of pictures from the weekend can be seen by clicking on this image. This week the mission projects are going on all across North London and the stories coming in so far are all positive.

Film Review

A feel good film. Not very realistic, but fun nevertheless. Its a very classic misunderstood bad girl turns good! It was a very slanted view of England, not a chain store or town in sight! But the boarding school attitude was fairly spot on, as I went with my best friend who attended one!

Of course the pretty American girl gets the handsome English boy. And of course the whole school turn against the jealous head girl. It was all very predictable, but I did enjoy it. I only found myself cringing once! I think the line was "every time I'm with you I have to catch my breath"! Oh come on!!

The soundtrack was good, many tunes to get the audience dancing in their seats!

The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of...

I was babysitting my friends two children last night. The eldest is just over three. She was having trouble getting to sleep. So I asked her what she liked to dream about. Her response very quickly and excitedly was "chocolate". I asked if there was anything else, with a big smile she said "flowers". So I got her to settle down and try to dream of these things, suggesting maybe chocolate flowers. She sat up very suddenly and said with a very serious look on her face "but Ruth if flowers were really made of chocolate and the sun came out they would all melt". Good point I thought! Be careful what you wish for!

Festival Time

Without realising it the years have passed and Soul Survivor has been part of my summers for the past 12 years!! Momentum is my new favourite festival of choice, however this year it clashes with 0808 (see below) and I had to decide where my loyalties were!! (I shall be returning to Momentum in 09!)

Having friends in The 29th Chapter helped this year, as I was offered guest day passes. Things feel so much better when they cost nothing, IMHO! There were a few people at SSC who I knew, so me and my friend Emma spent the day catching up with friends and enjoying the atmosphere of the showground. As it was my first time as a day visitor I got to gloat about the fact that we could go back to real beds, out of the rain, in a real house in Bath!! The site this year was very muddy, small bogs in fact! I did not envy the campers!

King Bladud's Pigs

On a weekend trip to see the family in my favourite city Bath, we spotted a number of decorated pig statues out and about! After of bit of research from my Aunt I found out what they were. I liked the idea of them. A mixture of fun spotting them and interest seeing what each artist had done with them. (we also had some fun photographing them!)

Film Review

This is another film that makes me wish I lived in a different era. This film portrays a very glamorous glimpse of London at the end of the 1930s.

I was a little confused at the end of the film, as it didn't seem to have a major point to it, as everything seemed to happen so quickly. But saying that I did enjoy it. It showed that people from all sides of life can be hiding massive secrets about themselves. It also showed that fame and money isn't the answer to everything, and that loves conquers over all!!

Abandoned Hobby

I love photography. Both taking photos and looking at other peoples work. But recently I've just lost the desire to do it myself. I dont know why, maybe its being too busy. I need to get off my backside and start taking more pictures again.

0808

We have a local festival going on over the bank holiday weekend called 0808. (called such as it is the 8th month of the 8th year, and its also linked to Hope 08) The festival will fire up it's North London delegates ready for a week of local mission projects afterwards. There will then be a final celebration bringing everyone back together again a week later.

Its quite an exciting time for everything, ready to see what God will be doing locally. I am really feeling for the team who decided to take over my office for part of today. Its quite a pressuring time for them. Check out the website for more info. (the photography was done by little old me!)

New Series

Kept seeing the advert for this series and would have forgotten to watch it if I hadn't stumbled across it by chance this eve during my TV chill time after gardening! I found it really interesting. A good social experiment for a cross section of todays society. I hope I get the chance to catch the rest.

Progress

During my week off and today, inbetween the rain showers, I have done some more to the garden. (today with the help of my parents!)

Film Review

Another good fun animated film. Laugh out loud points at times, which is good in my opinion! As a big fan of Jack Black I'd wanted to see this film for a while. The cast for this was awesome.

Film Review

Hmmm...like all films that are rubbish, the best bits were in the trailer. Maybe rubbish is too strong a word, it was a fun film. But I was disappointed, seeing as I'd been looking forward to seeing this for a while. It did remind me of how 14 year old girls viewed boys and relationships. Its been a while since I was 14!

My Week

We've had a creative week at n:flame. I have had a week out of the office helping to create these.
